How does a controlled reduced tidal area (CRT) work?
The only purpose of a controlled reduced tidal area is to support nature. The inflow of the daily tides creates tidal nature. These areas are not used as flood control areas.
We equip the area with special sluices. Every day, the high intake sluice allows a little bit of water flow into and out of the area – in time with the rhythm of ebb and flow. At high tide, the water flows in, and at low tide, it flows back to the river. After some time, this process results in the creation of tidal nature with mudflats and marshes.
