Lippenbroek in Hamme - covering a surface area of 10 hectares - is used as a testing ground for the Sigma Plan. Here, since 2006, scientists have been testing the operation of a flood control area with tidal exposure. Lippenbroek is rich in plants, birds and fish and functions as a natural water purification system. This world premier attracts quite a few visitors from home and abroad.
